They call it "Rockfest" but I think the name should be changed to "Nasty People Coming Out of The Woodwork" Fest. I have never seen so many immoral, tacky, gross people in one place. Seriously. Gross.
I mean, not everyone was gross. We met quite a few nice people. However, the majority seemed to be led down stray paths in life such as the "rotting teeth meth" group or the "I need a pair of 50 cent beads so I'll show my boobies no matter how disgusting they look" group. Awesomeness. During Saving Abel, we were in the very front pressed up against the steel railing while crowd surfer after crowd surfer soared over our heads (sometimes INTO our heads) only to be yanked out of the air by the security guys. One chick had no shirt on and was milking her boobies onto the crowd. That's right. I said it, she was MILKING HER BOOBIES AND SQUIRTING BREAST MILK ONTO THE CROWD. I don't know how much trashier a person can get beyond that.
After Saving Abel, Lisa and I decided that it would be a good idea to stay back, away from 50,000 people pressing us into the railing as we were bruised from all the soaring feet and fat asses that were crow surfing. I have several bruises that I can't exactly account for...
It was a super long day but we did end up having fun. We were smart and didn't start drinking until after 6 pm, slurping water by the bottle full before that. We ate badly and embarrassed the youth that were with us by head banging. Note to self: No headbanging after age 21. My neck is SO freakin' sore! As are my calves, shoulders and back. I'm getting old folks, there is no doubt about it.
Yesterday, I went over to Alicia's and we sat poolside for a good 3 plus hours. Luckily, Lisa and I had lathered ourselves in SPF 30 on Saturday and it did it's job well. I was only a little pink on the top of my shoulders, nose and that spot I missed in the middle of my back. Doh! So yesterday I just got a little darker - with more freckles on my nose. Sweet.
In past news, Fe and Gus came to town for my bday and along with Alicia and a new friend, Adam, we went to La Bodega and drank way too many pitchers of sangria...and then went to the Velvet Dog and sat outside drinking more in the perfect May evening. It was such a great night!
Last week, Colleen and I went to Happy Hour at The Melting Pot on Wednesday night and The Drop on Friday night. Both were great and not too terribly expensive (half price drinks and appetizers - or as in the case of the Melting Pot - half price cheese fondue).
This weekend the girls are going to the Strawberry Festival in Independence. I think. I also have to bake cookies tomorrow night for Alicia's mother-in-law's church bake sale as I promised her I would a few weeks ago. I also have Andrew's baseball game on Friday night. I love that I get to see the kiddos so much!
Even my head is sore. Ugh.
Last week was Jace and Wyatt's first T-Ball game. HILARIOUS.
My last (hopefully!) ARE test is next week - June 9th. I'm scared. I better damn well pass it! Starting tonight will be studying (well, more studying) for it and using my treadmill that I conned Fe and Gus into carrying upstairs to my place. I have GOT to tone up. My tan fat is still jiggly fat - it's just darker.
Alright, gotta get going! Ciao!
Good luck on your exam. I am starting my first soon. So I found your blog searching for Rusty Lemon to see if he is the musician that looks like Trent Reznor as described by a friend who can't remember the band name. Still can't tell. Anyway, I also noticed that you are going to Neocon. I'll be there this year. I put together a Chicago guide from other architects' suggestions: you can see it at norococo.blogspot.com - Have fun!
